The Effects of Prejudice Against an Accent
An african american researcher named john bah designed an experiment to study whether people treated you differently depending on your accent. He would call each phone number three times, and he always said the same thing, but he used three different accents. Listeners were less likely to believe them if they had a more common American accent.
