People unconsciously pay a premium for lower variants. They're happy to pay for the reassurance of a degree of certainty or low variance. Macdonalds is actually better on those non negative measures than micninstard restaurants, where you might very well get ripped off. There are whole categories which are totally benighted because they don't understand quite the calculus with which humans make decisions. The solar panel industry has absolute technological brilliance married to total marketing stupidity. People of true scientific genius have put their brains to making solar panels better. Unfortunately, they are sold by total moralsk lause.
