Semi Conductors and the Organization of Computers

Semi conductors have the properties they do because their firmy level, which is effectively the outer edge of the field electron levels. In order for material to carry a current, there need to be accessible, free energy levels that the electrons can go into and then move out to carry the charge. So this ultimately is how the behavior of a computer is reduced by a series of levels down to the behavior of the underlying electrons in its construction.
