The Direct Effects of Trust in State Institutions
The results were beyond our wildest dreams. Theye were very strong effects, and exactly the subtle effects that we hypothesise theoretically were located. In completely anonymized lab experiments, they increase significantly their voluntary contribution to the pool that will be used for state courts o tat the altruism. But even more strikingly, this is intermediated by our respondents changing their views of local state actors. So here we thesise that as you get to trust local state institutions more, that could be the beginning of something that looks a bit like a virtuous circle.
