What Is Brettwalda?

Bead used the Latin term to describe this early type of overlord. The later Anglaland writers used the old English term Threatwalda. Walda meant a ruler in Old English. Oswald, which combined the word Os meaning God and the word Wild meaning ruler. Bead: It reinforces the view that these early Anglus Saxon kingdoms may have lived in different kingdoms with different kings, but they recognized a commonality between them.
