Marie Antoinette was born Maria Antonia and she's an Austrian arch-duchess. There were still a lot of people in Austria who would see France as the enemy. So when Marie Antoinette arrives as the wife of the future king of France, she does come in with that negative perception by a certain number of people because she represents a traditional enemy of France. She wanted this particular alliance concluded because there had been a geopolitical upheaval just after her birth.
