Most people think that muscle memory lives in their muscles but this isn't the case. The memory is actually in your brain and your brain tells your muscles what to do. Unlike episodic memories which can change dramatically over time your muscle memories are super stable so if you learn to ride a bike as a kid and you don't ride a bike for 20 years there's a reason for that saying that it's just like riding a bike you get back on. These memories are executed below our conscious awareness once we learn them so learning them is super conscious right?
