A lot of the ways people misunderstand this technology is just thinking about us technology and not thinking about sort of the human element. We have an automated monitoring that is based on an algorithm and we don't trust its own algorithm when it comes to fatigue. That's also kind of a monotonous repetitive task as we were alluding for our dual specialist but also there is an inherent problem with how to appropriately assess reliability by humans.
How has emerging driving automation technology been developed and tested on public roads with such a relatively strong safety record? As Waymo's Francesca Favarò explains on this week's episode it has everything to do with the humans behind the wheel. On this week's episode we dive into how Waymo manages fatigue risk among safety operators, why it's so important, and where the landscape of safety standards has room to improve.
