The History of the Teamsters

The international Brotherhood of Teamsters was founded in 1903. Its members were carriage drivers of horse-drawn teams, hence the name. The average Teamster worked 12 to 18 hours for $2, seven days per week. Do you know what we would have called those laborers today? Teamsters. They represent 1.4 million working members and 500,000 retirees.
