The Importance of Independence Day
I think we've lost our way as a welfare state, too. I conjure up the image of my dad in his mind's eye and say to myself that I am privileged. Every year on your mad smoke, Independence Day, I moved and excited as if it was the day the state was declared. But at the same time, if my father was around today, he would be very proud of Israel's military might. If we had this kind of an army during World War II, there wouldn't have been a holocaust.
