The Problem of Unsupervised Grammar Induction in AI
I've been wrestling with this a lot in some work on unsupervised grammar induction. This isn't AGI either, but it's sort of on the verge between an AGI or something. I'm more interested in making an AGI system learn language from its social embodied experience. And that would lead us into Hanson robotics. But just as an intellectual exercise, as a learning exercise, trying to learn grammar from a corpus is very, very interesting. No one can do it very well.
