Is Byzantium the Center of Our Law?
If there is some continuity between the ancient world and the modern West, it has to be through Byzantium because they were the only civilization. I feel like, I actually read an interesting take on Twitter that a lot of what we call like Rome, you know, like the arguments that people make for Greco-Roman law being that the center of our law, all that kind of stuff. Like really what they're talking about is Byzantine law codes, like Justinians code and stuff. And that living tradition was the thing that made it through if it was to have made through.
