The Effects of Fire on the Environment
Scientists say lightning is causing fires to sweep through every 10 to 15 years. When you had Indian Native American influences on that the fires return interval or frequency was more like four or five years. Studies show that buffalo prefer grass in areas that burned the year before. Coastal berries and service berries and choke cherries, staples in some indigenous diets, all thrive after fires.
