Jason Smith: It's one thing to hear hovering 300 feet above something about a principal or a doctor or a policy or an idea, a theological idea. But when you're spending hours with a with an adolescent or young adult,. And you look into their eyes and you come to know and love them and you think to yourself, this is not adding up. This is not lining up with with the theology that feels cold and unloving as you're experiencing it on the ground in the classroom. He says his experience of being there present as this whiplash, like experience happened. "It probably brought up, not only anger, but probably a deep sense of your own evolving spirituality"
