The Benefits of Confession

The church in her pastoral wisdom realized, okay, this is not the way to go. It's just to say that there's a place where in complete confidence and confidentiality a person comes to reconcile themselves to God. So we see the immediate benefit for the penitent, that every sinner still has a right to his or her good name. I say it's also a benefit to the confessor because the pressure is off of the confessor to remember sins.
