Work is important, but to what end? You are asking a superimportant question. And part of the problem in the displacement from technological change and globalization is that we didn't really prepare people to be successful at other kinds of jobs. We could have done much in the middle, everything from training to work support, even wage insurance for older american workers,. But we didn't do any of that.
