You're the Salt of the Earth, the Light of the World

Matthew 5 is the sermon of the Mount, and it begins with the Beatitudes. And that is blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the wait for it, kingdom of heaven. The city on a hill was obviously a reference to Jerusalem to Mount Zion. That too is another allusion to the Davidic kingdom being everlasting by God's own covenant.
