The Importance of Anxiety in the Ending

I kind of took the ending as like an expression of fear about judgment so like fear that your final judgment will kind of be this one sided unfair sort of like judgment. And he seems to be like always concerned with his mother and from our perspective it seems like it's like external circumstances or maybe like anxieties that have stood in the way for him being the perfect son. If at the end we're supposed to feel that some sort of sympathy for the mother character especially during the judgment where they kind of blame him, I'm just not sure what the takeaway here was.
