The Most Important Thing You Can Do When You're Not Throwing the People
The most important thing you want that single side receiver to do if it's not pressed coverage is maintain his speed. A man running full speed has never sped up and no ball in the history of the games ever been called out of bounds. The quarterback's already got enough on his plate, we don't need like some overly defined route. When I first started doing this at Arkansas State, when there's really only two teams in the country doing all run plays, every single play was stealing because those safeties had no idea what we were trying to do. And now they are a lot smarter so we've had to change too.
