The Importance of Lady Armana in the NHS

Stephanie is so brilliant at explaining how important that Lady Armana person was to patients. We've got accounts from the first years of the NHS where people were expecting to pay. So it was almost like they were getting used to this. Norman Sharp, one of our interviewees, who again, sadly has passed since we did the interview, he had one of the first hip replacement operations on the NHS in autumn 1948. That sort of testimony isn't in any written document and it's absolutely priceless.
