A lot of the times we come in as school leaders and want to just tell people what to do. We need to find out where people are out and what they think currently before we can make any sort of shift at all. I wouldn't dream of discussing a lesson with a teacher unless they were there and I was hearing what they were saying. You've got to be explicitly part of this conversation because they're going to be the ones who are going to be judged on their own thinking. And our whole system captures that long way around, which is still a good thing.
