Chuck Sam's: A Director of the National Park Service

Yumatilla was one of four tribes along the Columbia River that fought the government in court for violating their treaty rights. They won landmark cases that secured their traditional rights to fish for salmon. The rulings also gave the tribes legal authority to help maintain and restore the fisheries. Director Sam's eventually became one of the people doing that work.
