Mary Patterson brimmed with life and had weight and a wildness. She could have had a long life if she hadn't entered the drinking den that morning. Instead, she ends up on a slab - her hair cut off, ready for dissection by Dr. Robert Knox. In early spring, I wake with a voice inside, insisting that I listen to a particular piece of classical music. There's that black hole in history into which I want to pour the colour of my imagination.
