The Lawsuit of Yave
God takes the role of an angry husband who condemns, punishes, and publicly dishonors his unfaithful wife. Hosea says that Israel must rely on its sovereign God alone. Anything short of complete trust in Yave's power to save his vassal is a violation of the terms of the covenant. No prophet is complete without predictions of violent and imminent destruction.
