The Importance of Smedley's Early Life

There was talk about making it into a film in the Soviet film industry, which was pretty significant as well. They saw her as a propagandist for World Revolution or anti-imperialism and then she fell out with them badly by the mid 30s. Her relation with the American Communist Party just totally collapsed by the late 30s and 1940s. The idea that Smedley first worked for the German government and then was working for Moscow is very real.
