The U.S. does not have the same demand for news and spoken word content as Europe. English content is not going to do well in France or Sweden. The average German just craves lots of information and music stations there will feature five or ten minutes every hour, even if it's a little bit boring. So I think you see a lagging podcasting country because people are actually meeting that need by listening to radio.
