The History of Warfare in Central America
i'm not an epigraper, that is, i can't decipher, but i have colleagues who do. And so i try to keep up with the literature on conflict. That's where we get a lot of information. We think that in the past conflicts were more brutal. But when you begin to look at it in a different way, what we call war had so many rules. In some places it was more like what we see in the animal kingdom - batting each other in the head. They don't necessarily kill each other. So the wills of warfare are very, very interesting. and overtime, we've permitted and made acceptable more and more killing.
