The Battle of Muya
The battle of muya took place just south of the shang capital at yin. Therecords tell us that a military force of around 50 thousand headed east down the river to take on the shang. Modern historians doubt the vast number for the shang army though, and prefer to speculate that their force was probably no more than 70 thousand strong. King jou of shang had to flee the battlefield and head back to his impressive palace complex back in yin. He surrounded himself with all his precious possessions and set fire to the palace in a suicidal act. This action was to be the death of king jar and the death of the 700 year shang dynasty.
