Democracy is a check against tyranny, it's a check against the unrestrained power of people who have more money than most. And we are naive if we think that we don't have to fight for it every single day. A lot of damage has been done to our democratic process to voting rights over the last 10 years. We would have had better tools and place to prevent those laws from being put on the books in the first place. I look forward to reintroducing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which would restore the key provisions of the Voting Rights Law.
