How Does Alcohol Make Us Feel Good?
People of east asian heritage have a genetic variant that lowers their ability to tolerate alcohol. When they drink, a toxin called acetal altahide builds up in their blood. Because agent flush causes such physical discomfort and embarrasment, the people who carry this genetic variant tend to consume less alcohol than the general population.
