The Role of the Soul in the Organic System
The soul plays a functional role within the organic system that might be easily replaced by a more sophisticated understanding of some chemical process. Vitalism, at least according to the definition on offer, holds that the physical chemical processes cannot explain life in its processes. So is there another way? Could the soul be distinct without being magical or mystical? Here I wanna consider a quote from Bishop Barron who's a good friend of the Thomistic Institute.
