I think that technique can be taught, and technique is necessary. But I think that we all are born with different nuances that make us who we are. It's important for vocal students not to teach nuance out of somebody's natural instrument. When you think about what the mating thing is, it's about expressing that uniqueness. And people can choose whether or not they want to come running to it or not.
