I bonds have a limit of $10,000 per year for an individual. But you can buy another 10,000 in a trust or business and gift it to your spouse. If you reinvested that money at the fixed interest rate of 0.90%, then what happens? You're one year period of where you cannot touch that money starts all over again. And then you have another four years where you cannot touched that money without the three month interest penalty.
