The strength of your accent is going to depend on whatever first language you speak. Different languages have different sets of phonemes, sounds which are linguistically meaningful in that language. Spanish speakers can hear and produce the per, b, b, distinction but I, as an English speaker, cannot. So we learn at a very early age to hear and to speak the sounds used around us and lose the ability to make sounds we don't need.
