The beedles appearance on the ed sullivan show, watched by then record 73 million americans, more than a third of the country, fuelled beetle mania in the us. The beetles went on to dominate the charts for the next three months. Maybe i want to hold your hand wouldn't have spent seven weeks on top without it, though,. that is debatable. We'll never know.
