Carolina Panthers Founder Jerry Richardson Dies at the Age of 86
The Carolina Panthers founder Jerry Richardson died on Wednesday night at his home in Charlotte. He was forced to sell the team to David Tepper for a then NFL record, 2.275 billion after the 2017 season amid allegations of sexual and racial misconduct in the workplace. The statue of Richardson outside the building was subsequently removed and Richardson is now no longer with us. One of the only ex players ever I could be wrong, but I think he was the first ex player to ever become a team owner to make that path.
