The Dialectical Inversion of Subject Headings

The most prominent critic of subject headings first articulated his argument in the late 1960s as a cataloger at the University of Zambia. Berman's Zambian users informed him that using the subject heading CAFERS to catalog materials in the Zambian context was to use a virantly racist epithet. We're literally dealing with a footnote situation that transformed libraries forever because critical theorists are lunatics in latch on to any excuse to seize power.
