It's mentally very engrossing because it is everything is different. There are no assumptions you can make about what you can expect from a culture or from a physical perspective for any of the characters. I wanted to make it like I'd read a lot of when I was growing up in the 70s. You know there's a lot of feminist feminist science fiction and also fantasy that was really kind of borderline science fiction and fantasy where it was magical fantasy taking place on other planets. That's what I wanted to do with the cloudroads.
