The Gilded Age

In the 19 twenties, a competing model of policing started to evolve. Progressives were by and large a homogeneous, middle class, white protestant group. They assued cal parties in favor of local informal organizations like the anti saloon league. Many progressives also held deeply conservative attitudes towards religion and acceptable social behavior.
