The Ramba's Position on Dogma
Many who talk about dogma go immediately to arguments from authority. Maimonides himself, when he was formulating the dogma, at least the philosophical part of his dogma, was much more concerned with providing absolute, indefeasible reasons for believing the dogma to be correct. It's a completely different conception. So much so that today, the argument will be made that we can't disagree with it. Why not? Because the Ramba, it's based on his authority, not on the truth,. They're false of it, but it's the authority of the Ramba. That's not the way the Ramba is formulating his dog."
