The Role of Expectations in the Classroom

There's two key types of expectations that teachers can have. The first one is behavioral expectations, and I'm not talking about behavior or misbehavior. Robert Marsano has done a lot of work with this. And so for example, let's say that you are in my class and that you are a struggling student. You know, it's not that you're not a good kid, but you struggle instructionally. Well, what happens is that over time, Tamaz just exceeds his expectations.
