DNA From a Permafrost Sample
DNA is sort of like the instruction manual that lives inside every living thing. Scientists found DNA from 135 different species in a 2 million-year-old permafrost sample. The last oldest DNA sample collected was from a mammoth bone, but it was only about 1 million years old.
