Genetic Circuits in a Multi Cellal Environment

Genetic circuitry has been evolved by plants over hundreds of millions of year to do this job already, but you want to improve on that. Research in my own lab has shown that some of the environmental responses that we observe in wild species seem to be lost or diminished in domesticated plants. That's where we can use these more sophisticated methods of bio engineering in order to bring back some of these responses into the plant. Modern agriculture creates environments that plants grow in that are very different the nature. As a consequence, thet plants may not have ever evolved mechanisms that would be adaptid in those sort of situations.
