Deborah Gordon pops the balloon of the myth that what you have is a kind of like a biologically determined order of rolls and casts in an ant colony. She says no actually what's going on is that by diminishing individual agency we can allow adaptive transformations to propagate more easily. The beauty of the liquid brain in recartes the latest terms of an ant colony is that the ants are dumb enough that they can function as a hive mind. i think what most people are afraid of with technology is that this is increasingly determining the plays that are available to us as people.
