The History of Television
The BBC's first outside broadcast took place in 1937. It was the coronation of King George VI, the grandfather of Charles. The big breakthrough came in 1953 when millions bought or hired a TV to see Elizabeth Crown. 1973 saw a lot of colour sets sold for Princess Anne's wedding. 1981 saw video recorder sold for Charles and Diana's wedding. 1997 saw digital TV sold for Diana's funeral. 2011 saw widescreen TV sold for William and Kate's wedding. And 2016, a lot of Netflix subscriptions were sold so people could watch it all again - but this time in a clunky fictional version that made a lot of stuff up.
