The Importance of Clarity in Fiction
The author has a way of setting out mysteries, and it's fun to reread the books again. He leaves clues in his writing about what side he was on that readers don't know until they've read them multiple times. One clue is how reverent Damon Blackfire is over blood raven even before he says he fought for him. That doesn't really single him out as being different from other people disliking blood raven.
