The Boxer Uprising in China

The first missionary fatality of the boxer uprising occurred at the end of December 1899, when a band of boxers ambushed British missionary Reverend Sidney Brooks. By this point, the Chinese government had given up even the appearance of trying to stop the violence against foreigners and Christians in China.
