The British Indian Ocean Territories Near the Maldives

Maldives is an archipelago. It's less than 1000 kilometers from the Indian coastline. If we measure the distance, it's about 600 or so kilometers from Thiruwanath Puram in Kerala. And if you go southwards from the Maldives, we have something that's called the British Indian Ocean territory. So historically, the Maldives were inhabited by Indian origin people and also some people of African origin. Most of them were exiled to either Reunio or Mauritius.
