The Origins of Witchcraft in the Americas
Before the 17th century before the discovery of the Americas really people everywhere saw the world in a certain way, which was that humans weren't the only beings with souls. But what happened when the Europeans conquered the Americas is that they were able to think of themselves as the masters the soul masters of everything on earth. That's how this whole idea of witchcraft arises because that's exactly the conception of witchcraft that which is our people who commune with the devil and who see forms of agency in nature.
