The Karin people have been at war with Myanmar's military junta since 1949. They are a minority ethnic group that the British used as colonial shock troops in India, Uganda and Burma. Despite not growing up there, Andy's identity card says Karin. Gandhi only really found out about the struggle for Kádole when he moved into the camps along the border after the Safran Revolution.
